In the last 15 years, the projects conducted by Philip A. Draganov have taken up a significant part of his artistic work and concert performances.
Concert tours have taken him to important concert halls such as the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden and the Tonhalle in Zurich.
He has worked with well-known chamber orchestras (Zurich Chamber Orchestra and others) and symphony orchestras (Karlsbad Symphony Orchestra/Czech Republic and others), and has conducted at international festivals such as the “Seongnam Music Festival” in South Korea.
The soloists with whom he has performed include Khatia Buniatishvili, Oliver Schnyder, Teo Gheorghiu, Andreas Janke, Bartolomiej Niziol, Ruslan Lutsyk, Chiara Samatanga and Ilya Gringolts.
Philip A. Draganov frequently takes the time to work with university orchestras and youth orchestras.
The task of presenting, explaining, and conveying an important work to young people for the first time is a matter close to his heart and a great pleasure for him. He is also concerned with the orchestral technical training of the next generation of orchestra musicians. Here, far from any routine, very special experiences and moments are created, both for the young musicians, the audience and for the conductor.
Philip A. Draganov is a regular guest conductor of the "Sinfonietta ZHdK" (formerly the "PreCollege Orchestra Zurich"), in whose rehearsals and performances of all Beethoven symphonies in Zurich he has played a significant role in recent years.
In 2007 he took over the direction of the orchestra "Konsi Strings Zurich" and conducted the orchestra, from 2012 as a chamber orchestra, for 16 years until the summer of 2023.
Since 2011, Draganov has been Musical Director of the YOUTH CLASSICS Orchestra, which he conducts at numerous events such as "Art on Ice" in the Zurich Hallenstadion, in the Theater Spirgarten or in the Tonhalle Zurich. This orchestra consists of students from music colleges and a few selected pre-college students, gives concerts throughout Switzerland and plays the large symphonic repertoire.
As a 16-year-old violin student, Philip A. Draganov took his first conducting lessons in New York and completed his professional conducting training in 2007 at the Zurich University of the Arts.
Working with important conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph von Dohnány, Michael Tilson Thomas, Alan Gilbert, Bernard Haitink, Günter Wand and Sir Roger Norrington have had a lasting influence on and inspired him.
