Raphael Nussbaumer, Philip A. Draganov’s student for the last 12 years and currently studying in his class at the Bern Academy of the Arts (HKB), invited to perform a solo recital at the Tonhalle Zurich on April 8th,7.30 pm.

Mira Szokody, bachelor student at the Bern Academy of the Arts, is one of two winners of the competition for the Lukas Each foundation grant.

Selina Disch, pre-college student at the Zurich University of the Arts, wins the audition for a scholarship from the Robert A. Meier foundation.

Valentina Paetsch, former student of Philip A. Draganov’s violin class for many years, wins permanent position at the Deutsche Sinfonieorchester Berlin (DSO).

September 2023

17-year-old Raphael Nussbaumer, Philip A. Draganov’s student since 2012, and currently student in his violin class at the Bern Academy of the Arts, wins second prize at the renowned "International Tibor Varga Violin Competition" in Sion, Switzerland. As one of 3 finalists (149 registrations, 24 admitted participants for the 1st round, 12 admitted participants for the 2nd round), he played Tchaikovsky's violin concerto in the final.

Raphael Nussbaumer has already won prizes at numerous international competitions, such as the Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition in Vienna, the Andrea Postacchini Violin Competition in Fermo and the Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar. He was also the only candidate from Europe in the semi-finals of the Menuhin competition (Junior Section).

Raphael Nussbaumer, student of Philip A. Draganov’s violin class since 10 years, wins the 4th prize and the highest prize out of all European participants at the 10th international Fritz Kreisler violin competition 2022 in Vienna, Austria.

The advantages of old master violins against modern violins - or vice versa - is one of the most discussed issues in the world of string instruments.
